Pet & Farm Sitting 🐾

I’m a full-time professional sitter and caretaker with over 15 years of experience. This is my livelihood, not a travel hobby or accommodation exchange arrangement.

Because I travel, train, and fully immerse myself in the unique routines of each home, property, and animal family I care for, my services are paid and custom-quoted based on location, chore load, length-of-stay, and the level of care required.

If you’re looking for deeply attentive, highly capable, in-home support and genuine peace of mind while you’re away, you’re about to meet your gal ❤️

I’m Brandy, the heart & hands behind Grumble Farm Pet & Property Sitting 👩🏻‍🌾

I provide professional, all-inclusive, in-home sitting and chore relief services for farms, ranches, acreages, homesteads, rural acreages, off-grid properties, and select urban and suburban households across British Columbia and Alberta.

From urban and suburban homes to working family farms to remote cabins tucked deep in the woods, I offer steady, on-site care and maintenance so you can take time away knowing everything is being looked after with competence, presence, and genuine care.

My biggest inspiration for doing this work is one day putting down roots to build a little farm of my very own! In the meantime, I feel deeply honoured to serve & support others in the farming, ranching, and homesteading community.

If you think we would make a good fit, send me an email at brandy@grumblefarm.ca 💌

My services are designed to support a wide range of homes, properties, and animal-care needs, including:

  • Full-time in-home pet and property sitting (rural, urban, or suburban)

  • Farm, ranch, and homestead chore relief

  • Livestock and companion animal care

  • Off-grid and remote property support

  • Medication administration and special-needs care

  • Overnight presence and emergency responsiveness

  • Snow removal, wood heat, and basic seasonal upkeep

  • Longer-term arrangements and custom sitting packages

If your sit requires a little more than simply watering the plants and keeping the porch light on, I might just be the droid you are looking for 🤓

Nothing means more to me than the trust of my clients, and the relationships built through caring for the homes, animals, and properties they love most ❤️

“Brandy is fantastic. I can not say enough good things. Had great updates, photos and Jax loves her!” - Alysen R.

“Brandy was great, she came on a last minute request from us to walk our dog. She was quick to respond and arrived on time despite the request being last minute! Nori had a great time, would highly recommend her!” - Katie Y.

“We didn’t feel comfortable traveling without our dogs until we found Brandy. When she is with them, they get the highest quality care you could ever imagine. Brandy keeps really close contact with us the whole time and posts many adorable and hilarious pics and vids of our babies on all of their adventures. She even goes as far as to let them sleep in the bed with her!! She just goes above and beyond... After spending time with Brandy, the dogs are happy, tired (from so many exciting activities), and it just shows how good of an experience they have had with her (vs. what we experienced in the past when leaving them with relatives or at a kennel). Even our very high anxiety bugg settles right down - she is a high anxiety dog whisperer! Now whenever I propose a trip to my husband, he says “only if Brandy can look after the dogs”. THANK YOU Brandy!!! You are amazing at what you do.” - Bri V.

“If you are looking for the pet whisperer, look no further! Brandy knows all things pets and is such a kind, caring, and generous human. She looked after our little guy, Bao on short notice and he had a blast. We are fully aware that he can be a handful at 10 months old but she kept up with him and he was exhausted by the time we got home. We always look forward to her photo/video updates throughout the day and she is flexible with her scheduling. Bao is looking forward to her next visit! I highly recommend Brandy to care for your pets!” - Megan L.

“My senior dog Buddy Miles, has been in Brandy’s care for several years now. She loves my dog as I do, and ‘meets him where he is at.’ Meaning when he is having a slow day, she slows her pace, or carries him, or takes him in the stroller, when he is full of vigour, she knows he can keep up. She is loving and kind, and is attuned to what we need as pet owners. Buddy is always happy and content when I come home and he’s been with Brandy. I have moved several times, and she shows up no matter where, to help with Buddy and ensure he gets his socialization, fresh air and love. I completely trust Brandy with all of my animals, including my kitties. Brandy is a true gem, and a kindred spirit. You and your pets are in great paws!” - Lisa D.

“Brandy is an exceptional and caring pet care professional who is knowledgeable as well as nurturing, providing ample exercise in dog-safe environments. She genuinely cares for the well being of her clients pets and goes above and beyond just being someone who takes lets your dog out for short bathroom breaks, understanding the need for familiar structure, routine, and stimulation. Brandy is professional, dependable and someone I trust completely with my fur babies!” - Shawna C.

“Brandy has a special way of caring for fur babies that goes above and beyond. I have always been very happy to have her care for my elderly, special needs dog, knowing that she will receive attentive TLC and love while I’m away and I don’t have to worry. She is highly attuned to fostering an environment that is conducive to each dog’s wellbeing and happiness. The care and attention she provides to all different doggie personalities is really special to see - they love her! She is highly knowledgeable about dogs of course but is also very responsive and flexible and willing to provide advice and suggestions from all her research into animal health and wellness. She’s amazing!” - Leanne B.

“I don’t give my trust that easily, but Brandy has earned it. Frank always enjoy his time with Brandy - I am at ease and worry free as I go about my day. I recommend with high praises :)” - Schyller Kira A.

“Brandy is an excellent care giver, so gentle and kind with pets. She truly cares about the well being of pets, taking care of pets like they are her own. Brandy has taken care of our little dog in the past, when we were on holidays. Lexi liked Brandy right away and was very comfortable around he. Brandy is a conscientious care giver making sure the pets get their proper exercise by taking them for daily walks, and rewarding them with a treat or two. ;) We were so pleased with the care of Lexi by Brandy, that we have booked Lexi with Brandy this year while we are away again.” - Maureen J.

“Brandy has been pet sitting for our family for a little under a year. She is very professional and treats my pugs as if they were her own. I trust her completely with the care of my animals and would recommend her to anyone who has a brachycephalic or other special needs dog. Since all my pugs have their own little quirks and are of different ages, she is comfortable dealing with the different challenges and needs that they may have. Brandy just knows the ins and outs of pet care and knows what to do should something go wrong. My dogs are always super happy when she comes to stay! We woof (love) Brandy!” - Andrea Y.

“There are very, VERY few people I trust with my dogs, but Brandy is absolutely one of them! I can say with 100% certainty that you will never regret leaving your dogs in her care. She has tons of experience with all ages, but goes above and beyond for the seniors and makes sure all of their special needs are met. My 14 year (ish) old Mexi-mutt is obsessed with her and gets so super excited whenever she arrives, and is always happy and sufficiently tired I get home. Would definitely recommend this amazing human if you’re like me and paranoid about leaving your dogs with anyone.” - Kelsey L.

“Brandy is a caring, responsible, and loving sitter. When my dog is with her, I can rest assured that she is taking the utmost care of my pup, as though he were her own. She is a good communicator and is ready with an update when I check in. She also understands that dogs are family, and that no concern is too small to be considered important - even if it’s the dog-parent’s own separation anxiety! I appreciate knowing that I can count on Brandy to be a supportive part of my beloved dog’s extended family.” - Karen K.

“We met Brandy a few years ago and she is our go-to dog sitter! We always feel that our sweet little pug, Norma, is in the best care possible. She always goes above and beyond and treats your pet like she would her own - with love and compassion. Communication and flexibility around schedules and bookings are on point too!” - Leanne A.

“THE DOG WHISPERER 🔮 Brandy has been Ralph’s regular caregiver since last fall. I could not imagine a better person for the job! Brandy posts videos of Ralph and he is as happy to be with her as he is to be with us (rude but ok) and is nice & tired when we get home. Trustworthy, punctual, flexible if you need to add or remove a date with little notice. She’s worth every penny.” - Megan C.

  • Northern Alberta (Sundre/Olds, Red Deer, Edmonton) & Southern Alberta/foothills (Calgary, Cochrane, Okotoks/High River, Pincher Creek)

For longer-term sits, I’m also open to many other regions across B.C. including the lower mainland, coast, islands, and northern communities.

If you’re unsure whether I travel to your area, just reach out and ask! No place is too far in theory, it simply needs to make sense logistically for us both.

Long before trading concrete sidewalks and glass sky scrapers for gravel roads and muddy farm boots, I studied evolutionary anthropology and primatology at the University of Calgary while working as a wildlife rescuer, rehabilitator, and community educator all over Alberta. These formative years taught me how to stay calm under pressure, problem solve some pretty unique rescue scenarios, and tune into the subtleties of animal behaviour, all while immersing myself in both my local community and a clinical veterinary setting.

My wildlife rescue, rehab & public outreach work gave me the experience to then establish my very own breed-specific pug rescue organization that eventually evolved into a full-time, full-service pet care business in Calgary. During this time, I gained extensive experience with senior, disabled, and medically complex dogs, and was later featured on the cover of Pet Sitter’s World Magazine!

In 2020, I relocated to the West Kootenays of British Columbia, where my work naturally expanded into rural sitting, farm support, chore relief, and acreage care. Since then, I’ve continued learning from animals, land stewards, farmers, ranchers, homesteaders, off-grid property owners, and all sorts of hardworking rural families across Western Canada.

My long-term dream is to one day put down roots on a little farm of my own, which is the driving force and inspiration for writing and sharing about my journey via The Road to Grumble Farm on Substack and YouTube. Until then, I feel honoured to care for the homes, animals, and ways of life that inspire me along the way 🙂

Although much of my recent work has focused on farms, acreages, and rural properties, I remain open to select urban and suburban sits in areas such as Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Edmonton.

These arrangements are especially welcome when longer-term, multi-pet, or pug-focused. The occasional urban or suburban sit can be so fun, because they gift me with the ability to indulge in the luxuries of city life in-between rural bookings (helloooo food delivery!)

No matter which type of setting you live in, please don’t hesitate to reach out by e-mailing me at brandy@grumblefarm.ca 🏙️

Do you do meet-and-greets?

Whenever logistics allow, yes. If I’m already in the area, I’m always happy to come by, meet everyone, and tour the property. Otherwise, many first bookings begin through e-mail and text, followed by an in-person walkthrough on the day of or shortly before the sitting start date.

How does first-time training or orientation work?

First-time sits include a walkthrough of your home, property, and animal care routines. Returning sits can include a pre-sit walkthrough to go over any changes or updates to the property & animals, if required. My clients also leave written instructions and guides, which are very handy to study & reference.

Do you stay on-site full-time?

Absolutely. Aside from supply runs, errands, or necessary appointments, I remain primarily on-site and fully present throughout the arrangement. Any visitors to your property are run by you first, and I would never host any kind of social gathering on your property or in your home. You don’t have to worry about strangers in your home or on your property while I’m on-the-job 🙂

Do you travel with pets?

Yes. As a solo traveller, I bring along my two senior pug sisters, Fern and Ivy (both 16 years old) for personal companionship. They’ve been with me for a long time! They are quiet, clean, gentle little houseguests who are completely apathetic to other dogs and cats. Depending on the situation, they are either carefully integrated or kept separate from resident pets in their own private space to nap the day away.

What sleeping arrangements do you need?

I’m highly adaptable! Normally I sleep in the main bedroom, but a separate guest room works great, if available. I’ve slept in lofts and on futons and cots and pull-outs; as long as there is somewhere warm, safe, and comfortable to crash, I’m able to make it work! Dogs are invited to sleep wherever they’re most comfortable 😉

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

When fate aligns, yes! My schedule fills up fast with confirmed bookings throughout the year, but I always try to help when emergencies or unexpected travel arise.

Do you require anything else from me?

Nope! I come with everything I need for our stay, and leave without a trace. Some clients have left me a grocery stipend or a bag of coffee beans to support our stay, which always makes me cry… but it’s not a requirement 🙂

What is “The Road to Grumble Farm”?

I document and share my travels and experiences on the road with Fern & Ivy as we search for the “real” Grumble Farm” in four ways:

In 2024, I became a certified Animal Reiki Practitioner through Kathleen Prasad’s Let Animals Lead® method, a subtle energetic practice that teaches guardians & caregivers how to build trust and create calm, healing spaces for all animals through presence, respect, and non-verbal communication. This approach deepened the way I show up for every animal I care for, allowing them to feel safe, seen, and understood.
